Is LaneMind safe to use? Will I get banned?

LaneMind is designed around Dota 2's Game State Integration (GSI) data flow, which sends read-only JSON data from the game client to a local endpoint. It does not modify game files, inject code, automate inputs, read memory, or interact with the game client.

Does this violate Steam's Terms of Service?

LaneMind uses the GSI workflow and public APIs only. It reads the data Dota 2 sends to the local app, never writes to the game, never automates gameplay, and never interacts with VAC-protected processes.

What data does LaneMind collect?

Accepted Answer

LaneMind processes match data such as hero, items, game state, and post-game statistics to provide analytics, review, and coaching insights. For hosted-credit users, selected context is sent through LaneMind's hosted model provider stack for analysis. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties beyond what is needed for the service. BYOK users' data goes directly to their chosen provider.

What is BYOK (Bring Your Own Key)?

BYOK lets you use your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, or Google. That means you pay the model provider directly at their rates instead of using LaneMind-hosted credits. It's useful if you already have an API key or want full control over assistant spending.

What assistant models are supported?

Paid LaneMind hosted access can use premium model providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, and Google. BYOK users can use models supported by their own API key. We regularly add new options as they become available.

What are the system requirements?

Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), a modern dual-core CPU, 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended), ~100 MB disk space, and a stable internet connection. Dota 2 must be installed via Steam. The overlay uses less than 1% CPU and ~50 MB RAM.

Does LaneMind work during ranked matches?

Yes. LaneMind only reads official GSI data and displays analytics or coaching context in an external overlay. It is review and decision-support software, not automation or game modification.

Can I use LaneMind on Mac or Linux?

How do LaneMind credits work?

Accepted Answer

LaneMind does not offer unlimited hosted assistant usage. Free and trial access are for the software, stats tools, and BYOK flow. Hosted insights are prepaid: paid subscriptions include a monthly credit pool, and any logged-in account can buy refill packs for extra hosted analysis. Different features and models consume credits at different rates, and if you run out you can switch to BYOK or buy another refill.

Do free or trial accounts include hosted assistant credits?

No. Free and trial access are designed for testing the LaneMind software, setup flow, and BYOK usage without LaneMind funding model calls for you. If you want LaneMind-hosted coaching insights, buy a paid plan or a prepaid refill pack.

Is LaneMind a Dota 2 analytics platform or a coaching app?

Both. LaneMind is built as an all-in-one Dota 2 analytics and coaching platform. It reads live match context through Valve's official GSI feed, then turns that information into overlay panels, item guidance, threat reads, statistics, and post-game review.

Most Dota 2 coaching apps focus on stats, static guides, or replay reviews. LaneMind combines live overlay context, match statistics, assistant-backed reports, and post-game review that connect your current decisions to long-term improvement.

Is a Dota 2 analytics overlay allowed by Valve?

LaneMind is designed around Valve's official read-only Game State Integration feed. It does not inject into the game client, automate inputs, or modify files. That makes it fundamentally different from cheat tools or automation software.

The overlay isn't showing up in my game. What do I do?

Accepted Answer

First, make sure Dota 2 is running in Borderless Windowed mode (not Exclusive Fullscreen). Then verify the GSI config file exists at: steamapps/common/dota 2 beta/game/dota/cfg/gamestate_integration_lanemind.cfg. If it's missing, reinstall LaneMind or manually copy the config file from the app's installation folder. Finally, restart both Dota 2 and LaneMind.

Can I customize what the Coach focuses on?

Yes. In Settings you can adjust coaching focus areas: farming efficiency, team fight positioning, vision/warding, item builds, or general strategy. You can also set a preferred coaching style from aggressive to conservative.

Is my Steam account information safe?

Accepted Answer

LaneMind never asks for your Steam password or login credentials. We only need your Steam ID (which is public) to fetch stats from OpenDota and STRATZ. The GSI connection is one-way — Dota 2 sends data to LaneMind, not the other way around.
